What it did
Say Watt showed the electricity spot price for today and tomorrow, so you could move the expensive things – laundry, dishwasher, EV charging – into the cheap hours.
Two features went beyond a price chart. Forecast let you plan consumption against the coming day’s prices. Devices turned the abstract number into something concrete: what it costs to take a shower right now, rather than an ore-per-kilowatt-hour figure you have to do arithmetic on.
How it was built
Say Watt shipped in late 2022, in the middle of a European energy crisis, when Swedish households were suddenly paying close attention to hourly electricity prices for the first time.
The data was the easy part – spot prices are published. The hard part was making them mean something. A price curve tells you nothing useful unless you already know what a kilowatt-hour buys you, which is why Devices existed: translating the number into showers and laundry loads was the actual product.
Status
Discontinued in early 2025 and removed from both app stores. As energy prices came back down, the daily habit it depended on went with them.
